Over the last couple of years, there has been a trend in something called: "Nano-Brews" They are very small breweries that exist in locations of very modest square footage, and have only a couple of employees.
"Nano-Brews" are what the home-brewing operation has turned into. In the mainland, at least, these operations have grown quite exponentially in recent times due to the ability of some to brew beer that is comparable with some of the big kids on the block.
"Nano-Brews" have quite elaborate set-ups with computers controlling everything from Mash to hops. Quantity and quality is controlled in this method, and the brewer bottles and sells his/her product under the label they have made for themselves in their respective state.
Some interesting "Nano-Brews" would be: Vine Park Brewery, from St. Paul, Minnesota; Breaker Brewing Co. of Plains, Pennsylvania; and Enegren Brewing of Moorpark, California.
From Hawaii, we have a short list of local breweries that make some great beer. Maui Brewing is probably my favorite, but there are no "Nano-Brews" so to speak. UNTIL NOW! If you are interested in doing some brewing of your own, Oahu Brewcraft is here to help you!
Oahu Brewcraft produces 5 gallon barrels of beer for the customer in many, many styles: Barrel prices are: $175.00 for 5 gallons. For that price, the customer receives 24, 22 oz. bottles! The per bottle price you pay is $7.29 per bottle. That's about the same as what you'll pay for a mass-production bottle of fine beer, or a bottle of watered-down light beer in a nightclub.
The difference is in the ingredients. Oahu Brewcraft uses only high-quality products and you can determine your own alcohol content and flavor!
