It Has Begun!

The harvest is upon us once again. The first grapes to be harvested are usually the Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, followed by the rest of the white wine grapes. The red wine grapes are harvested last, in order to allow proper maturation.

The final harvests of the grape growing season belongs to the icewine grapes. Grapes that have been frozen on the vine to capture their proper sugar level and create the wonderful, sweet wine that many of us have come to know and love.

Pleae enjoy this picture rich issue, and see some of the beautiful images that are associated with the harvest of another vintage of wine.

I hope everyone is looking forward to the wines of 2009. This year I tried a lot of new wine, and found that I am more open-minded than I thought.

When I first started learning about wine, it was intimidating. Now, as part of the Hawaii Wine Lover staff, I have great access to information about wine. Contact me here if you are interested in learning more too!
