A virus has been going around. One besides the "swine flu". Many of my friends and close ones have had it and/or are recovering from it, including myself.

Sickness is something that has no enjoyable experiences. Nothing tastes, smells, or looks good. Our minds become consumed with how bad the quality of life has become, and vow to never take our health for granted again. Small viruses and bacteria cause sickness, and we often do not know where we picked them up until we wake up with a congested head and scratchy throat.

I began to ponder a few things while going through tissues and over the counter medications...many of the situations we encounter in life are like colds. We run into situations that diminish our capacities from their normal states of being, and put us into a "safe mode" of sorts.

Personal relationships, friendships, business deals, and finances are all like the influenza viruses of life. If you do not keep these things healthy and in check, they can drag one down to the lowest points that one can experience.

Just like that cold that seems to hang on for weeks, I have experienced a tapestry of setbacks at one time or another that makes me sit there and remember what it was like to get up in the morning and NOT think of unpleasant things. To come home after work and NOT worry about problems that never used to exist.

And, just like a cold, you never seem to know how you got yourself into these situations either. They just happen. Many times without warning or recourse.

Currently, I am getting over a cold. I am taking my medicine religiously and trying to get proper rest. Unfortunately, I have had to cut out the wine and beer for a few days, but it doesn't taste right anyway because of my viral friend.

Simultaneously, I am attempting to recondition other areas in life that have been "ill" for a significant period of time. I have been blessed with the desire to assuage these things, because I remember how great it feels to breathe in life as it was meant to be. While there is still a journey ahead, the illness will pass. Just like my sniffles.

Cheers,
