We have all said this before: “Life is one big joke”. In actuality, I prefer another mantra. Spoken by the late Richard Pryor, this phrase has a much more accurate view for me than the former one. It is: “Life isn’t one big joke..it’s a series of 89,000 little jokes all lined up to slap you down!”

Just when you think things are settled and moving along, SLAP! There’s life to remind you how little you really are. In a lot of cases, it can be fun and interesting. But there are those few times where it can be the most disorienting, hallowing experience of your life. Up is down, left is right, and everything you have known and cared for is suddenly different than expected. Clamoring for traction, like a crab on the rocks, humans have a way of dealing with things. To one extent or another; There will be an outcome. There will be a solution. Depending on what kind of spyglass you are using to observe life, it may be good or bad from your point of view.

While this editorial may be a little heavy, I think it is a completely viable question to ask one’s self: “what will life do to me, and how will I handle it?” I think life is more harsh on some than others, and it is difficult to tell sometimes if the universe has it out for you. Sadly enough there are many times when the desired outcome is not reached or granted. The world operates on a certain energy, and I have wondered many times, “what happens to all that energy? How does it affect the next set of circumstances?” Answers that probably none of us will discover in our lifetimes.

Please take a look around you and assess your life. If there are people you care about, let them know. Maintain the things around you that are good. Just as importantly, address the negative things as well. They will have an impact on you one way or another, and life could be a lot worse for a lot of us.
